About Us

What Is The Sports OT?

Occupational therapy was grounded in mental health when the profession was first established. Since there are many aspects of mental health that are major components to participation in sports, it is evident that occupational therapy has a place within the sports world. Despite a clear link between occupational therapy services and its benefit within the sports realm, there are very few occupational therapists practicing in this setting. In efforts to provide more mental health resources for athletes, The Sports OT was established!

The Sports OT started in 2022 to support current and former athletes of all ages, mental and physical abilities, and backgrounds in addressing the mental health struggles that come with being an athlete. The goal of The Sports OT is to address mental health, along with emotional, social, behavioral, and physical needs in a holistic manner to allow for positive re-engagement in meaningful occupations.

Mission

The mission of The Sports OT is to holistically address mental health,  along with emotional, social, behavioral, and physical needs to allow for positive re-engagement in meaningful occupations.

Vision

The vision of The Sports OT is to make a lasting, positive impact on current and former athletes to help them become independent in creating a healthy balance between athletic performance and mental health, thus enhancing their athletic participation and overall well-being.

Francesca Corsinetti, OTD, OTR/L

Francesca Corsinetti graduated from Simmons University in Boston, Massachusetts in 2019 with a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and minors in Psychology and Nutrition. She obtained her doctorate degree in occupational therapy at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island. She has experience in multiple areas of occupational therapy including mental health, pediatrics, geriatrics, physical dysfunction, hand therapy, and more. She also works with individuals of all ages. She has worked at multiple physical and occupational therapy clinics within the past 5 years to assist physical and occupational therapists in providing the best quality of life for their patients.

Francesca has participated in many sports throughout her life and is a former collegiate athlete who played basketball at Simmons University. She is also a current basketball coach to a high school girls basketball program where she has won multiple state championships within the past 3 years. Having understood and experienced the  mental health struggles that athletes face daily, Francesca wanted to use the knowledge and degree she obtained to become an outlet for those athletes like her who needed support during and after sports participation but did not know where to turn for help. From there, she established The Sports OT for the benefit of current and retired athletes!
